In the Jiali District, there are two Class III Historical Sites and one historical building. Apart from the features of traditional temples, the pieces of work like Koji Pottery, Fragmented Ceramic, etc. in the temples all have high cultural value. You are welcome to come and see the beauty of Jiali District.
Beiji Xuantian Temple
The only historical building in the Jaili area, situated against the Renan Elementary School, was originally the Tsai Family Temple and later became a public temple due to there being no local temple in the area. Unlike the exquisitely carved temples nowadays, it is a temple that is small and simple in style and full of simple and ancient beauty.
Jin Tang Temple
A Class III Historical Site, it has wonderful fragmented ceramics made by Master Chin Lung Ho and Bao-yuan Wang, and its granitoid rilievo in the back of temple is the largest granitoid art piece in Taiwan, having the two earliest sculptures of Dr. Sun Yat-sen located at the penthouse. It is the only temple that keeps sculptures of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Shiau-long incense is used every three years and is one of five incenses in Tainan. The unique procession for Shiau-long incense is a centipede procession of real people made out of 108 children dressed up as 36 ploughs and 72 evils. The 201.8 meter long centipede array displayed in the parade of the Siao Long Incense Ceremony of February, 2011, become the new Guinness World Records breaker as the world’s longest parade. The values of a wonderful history and the building art of Jingtang Temple are hard to explain in few words, so you are welcome to come and book a tour guide to learn more about Jing Tang Temple. Because of the location of the temple, there is a morning market at Zhongshan Market and the vehicles have difficulty entering. For those who want to drive to visit us, we recommend you come in the afternoon.
Zhen Xing Temple
The memorial of old Tianxing County in front of the temple announced that it is in the early developed area. Zhen Xing Temple, situated in the Jailixing area and the earliest developed area in the Jiali District, mainly worships Qingshui Zushi. There are more than 40 Yen Wang Koji Potteries in the temple, and all are truly the important cultural property. Two sculptures of “A Silly foreigner lifts up the temple corner” (imply native people at that time don't want to be ruled by Dutch) in the penthouse are vivid and lifelike in their gestures and movement and later on even became the main characters of “The Secret of silly foreigner,” the picture book about the beauty of Nan-Ying. If interested, please book a tour guide with Zhen Xing Temple.
